Meet Avasol Ambassador Elle Sampiere
Whether she’s ripping remote waves, recommending the best surf products, making funny Tik Tok videos, creating exceptional surf retreat experiences, or inspiring others to be healthy and active… Elle Sampiere does everything with heart. So when Elle reached out to us to express that since trying Avasol, she's never used any other sunscreen (and yes, she's tried them all), we knew she would be an ideal Avasol Ambassador. Not only is she a standout surfer and business woman, but her values are deeply tied to ocean conservation through a lifetime of living by the beach. Head to our blog to learn more about Elle's lifestyle and her optimistic outlook on life.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I would describe myself as a free spirited, fun, positive person whose passions include surfing, traveling, connecting with others and living a healthy, active lifestyle. I am 24 years old from Southern California but now living in Portugal and traveling the world all year long. I am a full time content creator, personal trainer, 2x business owner and I have my Bachelors in Communications. I am happiest surfing in tropical waters with my favorite people.
How has living by the ocean changed your life?
It has given me everything, from my partner to my job to finding my purpose in life. I am so grateful to have surfing in my life.
How did you start surfing?
My dad taught me how to surf at the age of 5 years old and my competitive 3 older brothers helped me find my drive and continue to surf throughout my youth.
How has surfing helped pave the path towards your career?
To be honest I fell into content creating. I have always loved social media and this beautiful travel lifestyle is so fun to document. If I can inspire one person to take a trip, try surfing or go to the gym then my job is done. That is why I continue to create - the feedback and love from my community is beautiful.
When and why did you decide to start selectively working with sustainable brands?
There was never one point in time that I decided this, I think since I grew up by the ocean and it was instilled in me from a young age to be kind to our planet, it is kind of rooted in my beliefs.
Tell us about your business and how you started it.
I met my ex-business partner through social media. He found me and had this great idea but didn't have a girl to be the face of the brand and he thought I was perfect for it so I am forever grateful to him. Shortly after launching the business, he backed out and now I run it myself. The business is called SurferElle Approved and I review products such as bikinis, sunscreen, wetsuits etc for surfing. I then create a video for Youtube, Instagram, Tik Tok and write an article on my channel at SURFER magazine.
What are some tips you have for female entrepreneurs in such a male dominated industry?
Women are having a huge rush in the surfing world at the moment and if you find your niche, stay true to yourself and work hard then it's just a matter of time.
What is your favorite place you’ve traveled to and why?
Indonesia, the waves are just toooo good.
Working in social media, how do you make sure to maintain a healthy relationship with it?
I have always loved it but I don't spend much time on it outside of posting - I am busy enough hahaha but I also always try to make sure I am following the right people.
How did you discover Avasol? How has it changed your ocean-centered lifestyle?
I walked into surfboardbroker one day and I saw it. I was drawn to its planet friendly packaging and natural ingredients. Me, begin my acne prone self snapped a picture of the ingredients and sent it to my esthetician asking if it was good cause we had been discussing sunscreens and how bad they can be for your skin and I was ALWAYS wearing it. She said it was great and i have been hooked ever since.
Describe to us how and why you use social media to encourage others to enjoy and protect our blue world.
I encourage people to enjoy and protect the planet by showing how beautiful it is and all the wonderful places it has to offer.
